Vlog #4 - Three Killer Kettlebell Workouts

Image
Today I'm sharing with you three intense kettlebell workouts that can all be done in 15 minutes or less. Don't let their shorter workout times fool you, these are all killer workouts that will leave you feeling like to got a full day's workout and then some. Workout #1 This is an Every Minute on the Minute (EMOM) workout that goes for 15 minutes. 15 Air Squats 10 Push-ups 5 Kettlebell Swings Yes, they throw some push-ups in there, but no, you won't notice them because your legs are burning so bad.  Even though this one only has 5 swings per round, be careful... there are still a lot of rounds.  I started off too heavy on this one and had to dial it back to a lighter weight pretty early on in the workout. Workout #2 This is another EMOM, but 12 minutes this time. 10 Kettlebell Swings 10 Push-ups (optional) 5 Goblet Squats Unlike the first workout where I started off too heavy, I might have started off too light on this one.  It still wiped m

Vlog #3 - This Bodyweight Workout Will Have You Sweating Buckets!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my third vlog... which is less like a vlog, and more like a mini movie of my workout, but whatever, you get the point. This one is a tough one and take a a little longer than some of the past ones I shared, so be ready to block off some time. Here's how it breaks down: 800 meter run 50 push-ups 100 air squats 150 sit-ups 800 meter run Cake right?  Well, for me, not so much.  I felt "fairly" good after the push-ups, but the air squats totally gassed me.  The last time I tried this workout was about a year ago while at one of my fittest points in my life.  For benchmark workouts such as this, I write down everything, so it was eyeopening for me to see that I still have a ways to go before I get to where I was last year at this time. So, how did YOU do with this one?  Feel free to share your time and thoughts in the comments below or over on YouTube (or on the Facebook page if that's your thing).  I'm going to be doing t

DIY Climbing Pegboard

Image
Remember that scene in Vision Quest where Louden Swain climbed that pegboard in the gym and blew all his team mates away?  No?  Anyone?  If not, you must be under 40.  Anyway, it was a great moment, and in the recent years, thanks to CrossFit, they have made a comeback. As far as craftsmanship woodworking skills go, you don't need a whole heck of a lot to complete this project... consider it a good gateway project into the world of woodworking.  However, you DO need some quality tools, otherwise it's going to take a lifetime to complete. And as far as costs go, this one didn't cost me very much at all.  Primarily because the main board I used was a scrap piece of wood I found.  And when I started, it really did look scrap... nicked, scuffed, sun bleached and paint.  But in the end, I think it turned out looking great! So, here's what you need to make your own DIY Pegboard. One 2x12 board (length depending on how high your ceiling is) One 1/14" dowel ro

Vlog #2 - Stop With the Doubts and Excuses

Image
So, I'm a bit disappointed with this Vlog.  The workout, while a TOTAL back breaker, wasn't the most interesting for the viewer to watch.   On top of that, the entire episode was plagued with little technical issues that were giving me fits. That being said, I did learn a lot on this one.   I learned a lot of technical stuff that will hopefully be addressed before the next video, AND I learned a lot about myself in terms of tackling these workouts and pushing myself. Hopefully you get something out of it.   And if you have any thoughts, please send them my way! Vlog #1 - Overcoming and Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Image
Today I finally addressed the "Finding My Fitness" portion of my Finding My Fitness DIY blog, and I share with you a great little workout. This one really took me out of my comfort zone.  As an editor, I am most comfortable behind the scenes.  So, being on camera was definitely something different for me, and is something that will take a little getting use to. In this Vlog I talk about why I'm doing this blog and I share and do a nice little benchmark workout that's guaranteed to get the beginner/intermediate health and fitness person's heart rate pumping. Check it out and let me know what you think.  And if you have a good benchmark type workout you think I should try, please let me know!
